A historic San Francisco cultural institution, the de Young is one of the most-visited art museums in North America. Recently unveiled in 2005, the museum’s new building – designed by renowned Swiss architectural firm Herzog & de Meuron – offers light-filled spaces that enhance the art-viewing experience.
Interior Event Spaces:
Wilsey Court (8,273 sq. ft.) – Ideal for larger parties, the Wilsey Court is the de Young’s largest internal wedding venue and offers a flexible canvas to create any style of reception.
Hamon Tower Observation Floor (2,410 sq. ft.) – Celebrate with magnificent panoramic views of San Francisco, the Pacific, the Marin Headlands, and surrounding Golden Gate Park. The Observation Floor is available for unforgettable nighttime weddings. Ideal for cocktail hours or more intimate wedding receptions.
de Young Café (2,411 sq. ft.) – The museum’s only indoor/outdoor wedding venue, the de Young Café features a sleek modern design accented by hand-blown glass light fixtures. Enjoy access to the adjacent outdoor terrace seating area, and views of the nearby Barbro Osher Sculpture Garden.
Piazzoni Murals Room (2,261 sq. ft.) – Located adjacent to Wilsey Court on the main level of the museum, this room features the California landscape murals of Gottardo Piazzoni. An intimate event space with polished hardwood floors, the Piazzoni Murals Room is suitable for smaller weddings and/or as an adjacent lounge for larger receptions in Wilsey Court.
Outdoor Event Spaces:
Combo Wedding Rental - For weddings only, the de Young offers a combo rental which includes one hour for cocktails in the tower followed by a reception dinner and dancing in the café or Piazzoni Murals Room.
Barbro Osher Sculpture Garden (9,718 sq. ft.) – A landscaped garden with elegant contemporary sculptures, the Barbro Osher Sculpture Garden is the de Young’s most popular wedding ceremony space. Available for wedding ceremonies after hours.
