Global Gourmet Catering celebrated its 14th year as the vendor partner for Outside Lands at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park for VIP Cabana Catering, VIP Concession Catering, BaconLand, and Private Catering for festival partners.

After taking a year off in 2020 due to the pandemic, and rescheduling for late October last year over Halloween, Outside Lands returned to form for its usual dates in August and came back better than ever for this year’s sold-out three-day event, with around 220,000 attendees over the weekend.

This year, there were no COVID-related safety protocols in place, and no proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test within 72 hours was required for entry, but attendees were advised to wear masks in crowded spaces.

Festival-goers were treated to beautiful weather, and stellar performances from Green Day, Post Malone, SZA, Jack Harlow, Weezer, Disclosure, and Phoebe Bridgers, along with, of course, lots and lots of amazing food.

Global Gourmet Catering partnered with Rocketbird for a second-year straight, featuring a different fried chicken sandwich each day in VIP concessions, and brought back the ever-popular BaconLands; conveniently located just a hop, skip, and a jump away from the also very popular Grass Lands on the southern end of the Polo Field.

BaconLands is a celebration of salty, porky goodness, offering a selection of artisanal bacon flights to illustrate the wide variety of flavors that can be achieved through different production methods. In addition to the bacon flights from The Bacon Bar, we also served a Fried Egg and Bacon Breakfast Sandwich, Grilled Cheese & Bacon Sandwich, and a Classic BLT.

Global Gourmet also provided concessions for the Box Suites, and concessions, brunch, a changing dinner service for the VIP Cabanas, and a Charcuterie Board and other sharable items for Wine Lands VIP over the weekend.

Top sellers over the weekend in VIP were Rocketbird’s signature fried chicken sandwiches – Rocket Reaper, Island Bird, and Cali Bird – which sold out each day, Birria Ramen, Badlands Buffalo Dogs, Wood-Fired Oven Pizzas, Burgin’s 50/50 Cheese Burgers, and a Stuffed Cookie of the Day special. Other offerings included a Doner Kebab Burrito, Plant-Based “Crab Cakes,” a Fun Salad, Hawaiian Pork Plate and a Stuffed Cookie of the Day. (Cookie Batter Stuffed Cookie with Oreo Crunch anyone?)
