It was a day unlike any other day. The sun was shining, the sky was clear and the powerful words of the leader of the free world echoed across the lawn full of well-known local politicians. This was a fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee at the home of Steve Westly, former State Controller and Chief Financial Officer of California. Westly has been a great supporter of President Obama since his days as a senator. Having the fundraiser at Westly’s house was a way of closing the loop and thanking him and his family for their unwavering support through the years.
Despite being in awe of once again feeding the President of the United States, we still had a job to do. Being a brunch affair, the guests were treated to specialty Bloody Marys and Mimosas and a selection of tray passed hors d’oeuvres that included Butternut Squash Sweet Potato-Goat Cheese Soufflés and signature Inside-Out “BLTs” (which happen to be a favorite of the United States Secret Service).
We then moved on to passing savory dishes like Short Rib Hash and serving sweet and buttery baked items from our pastry station with the spotlight on delectable Ginger Pull Aparts. This was truly a day for the books!
