“One of my favorite things about shooting in the city is the rich variety of locations we have right here in our backyard. Whether you like the beach or the trees or an urban environment, they are all available and nearby.The most important thing to consider when picking your location (in my humble opinion) is this:
Pick an area that is somehow meaningful to you.
The reason I say this, is that these photos are going to last forever. Most couples (myself and my husband included) don’t have really great photos of themselves in their natural environment, and in what I jokingly call “civilian clothing”. Why wait until your wedding day for beautiful photos? If you are going to create time in your busy schedule, let’s go somewhere you love today that you’ll want to remember. The beach where you walk your dog, the neighborhood park where you like to stroll, the alleys of your neighborhood where you ride your bike. Keeping this in mind we create images that are more than just glamour shots of you and your person looking really hot- they are memories of your life today that you will cherish for years to come.
When my clients suggest a location that I’m not familiar with, I’m thrilled! I always go and scout to make sure that it is suitable for photos.
