After years filled with the trials and tribulations of construction in an era of supply shortages and general pandemic pandemonium, The Mountain Winery in Saratoga, CA is pleased to open the doors of its brand new event spaces to its guests!

To celebrate and christen the new spaces and buildings, Global Gourmet Catering partnered with The Mountain Winery team to host a few promotional events showcasing these new spaces to a select few of our corporate clients and wedding planners. These events spanned over the course of a week – with weather ranging from rain and hail on the first day to bright sunshine and clear skies on the last – and were filled with good food, good company, and, of course, plenty of wine (this is a winery after all).

The new building, yet to be officially named, offers a two-story blank slate event space. Both levels have floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors, allowing the area to turn into the sought-after indoor/outdoor space needed for a comfortable event in the Covid era. While there is no shortage of amazing views at The Mountain Winery, the higher elevation from this second-story building boasts even more spectacular vantage points to view Silicon Valley and the bay.

The new outdoor event area, Adele’s Garden (named after Paul Masson’s daughter), offers a tucked-away space with tree-framed views over the valley. Its perpetually green faux grass lawn makes this the perfect space for everything from wedding ceremonies and summer picnics to mini-golf and ice-cream socials!

Though the showcases were more casual get-togethers compared to the elaborate and large-scale events The Mountain Winery is capable of hosting, guests and staff alike enjoyed meeting in person after what felt like a long hiatus from events. They enjoyed tray-passed hors d’oeuvres ranging from Global Gourmet’s famous Tiny Thai Tombo Tuna Taco (say that five times fast) to our popular (and entirely vegan) BBQ Jackfruit as they strolled along the property, taking in both the new event spaces and revisiting the old favorites on a tour led by The Mountain Winery team.

The last stop along their path was the new winery building, the home base of Jesse Montenegro, the resident wine expert and “Mayor of the Mountain,” where guests enjoyed generous pours of The Mountain Winery Estate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir paired with a variety of local cheeses. This space is the new summer home to weekend wine tasting on The Mountain, open to the public Fridays through Sundays. The wine tasting building and the new building will also both be activated during The Mountain Winery’s concert season for alcohol and concession purchases, with the second floor available to rent for semi-private events and dinners before shows.

Following the tour, guests enjoyed a delectable array of tray-passed small plates. Roasted maitake mushrooms with lentils, pan-seared king salmon, and short rib sundaes filled the menu and the tummies of all in attendance. But, of course, everyone made sure to save a little room for dessert, whether it be for one of our beautiful violet cookies, the delectable passion fruit cheesecake tart, or the you’d-never-guess-it-was-vegan chocolate mousse.
