Last March, we had the pleasure of working with Irene and Thys and the amazing team at Soiree by Simone to cater their wedding at City Hall that was the epitome of San Francisco elegance. Simone partnered with Kathleen Deery Designs for florals and custom rentals along with Got Light to set the mood, Tanja Lippert to capture the photos, DJ Chris Clouse to spin beats and Classic Party Rentals and La Tavola Fine Linens providing rentals.
Irene and Thys shared a global love story, meeting in Silicon Valley at a conference while Thys’ home was in South Africa. The two of them met in New York for their second date and shared dates all over the world until Thys finally moved to the United States where they started planning their wedding. As a nod to Thys’ South African roots, we served specialty South African wines during dinner and Global Gourmet’s Pastry Chef created mini Malva Puddings with gold flakes for guests to take as they departed. Their late night munchies were also Savory Pies of the World including Guinness Pub Pies and traditional Chicken Pot Pies.
For their main entrée, they wanted it to be similar to their favorite San Francisco chicken dish from Maven, so our chef created a Herbed Chicken Roulade and paired it with Seared Diver Scallops and Lavender Honey Mustard Chevre Fingerlings.
One thing Irene insisted on having was a champagne tower flowing with Veuve Clicquot greeting guests as they exited the elevators to the Mayor’s balcony after the ceremony.
We all rode a wedding high from this stunner for a couple of months and just as we were coming down, Thys emailed us their wedding video from Modern 8 Films and we all started crying happy tears again. Once you watch it, you will see for yourself the emotion and love that gushes from this couple.
