The de Young Museum’s stunning architecture offers a dramatic venue for both corporate and private events. Located in Golden Gate Park, the de Young provides a number of premier event spaces perfect for any group.
The total reception capacity of the entire museum, including usage of the tented terrace, is 2,000.
Interior Event Spaces:
Wilsey Court (8,273 sq. ft.) – The Wilsey Court and Lobby are located in the heart of the de Young. This space is the premier event venue in the Museum and provides a stunning and unique event space for any affair.
Hamon Tower Observation Floor (2,410 sq. ft.) – Rising to a height of 144 feet, the Hamon Tower’s Observation Floor provides magnificent panoramic views of San Francisco, the Pacific and Golden Gate Park. The Observation Floor is available for unforgettable after-hours events.
de Young Café (2,411 sq. ft.) – The de Young Café is located on the main level of the museum in the southwest corner of the building. The Café features hand-blown glass light fixtures, modern design elements and is adjacent to an outdoor terrace seating area and the Barbro Osher Sculpture Garden. Entry to the de Young Café for after-hours events is available from Hagawara Tea Garden Drive through the Barbro Osher Sculpture Garden.
Piazzoni Murals Room (2,261 sq. ft.) – The Piazzoni Murals Room is located adjacent to Wilsey Court on the main level of the museum. The Piazzoni Murals Room overlooks the Music Concourse and is home to the Piazzoni murals. There is a direct service corridor connection to the de Young Café kitchen. The Piazzoni Murals Room is available for both daytime and evening rentals.
Koret Auditorium (269 seated capacity / 3,871 sq. ft.) – The Koret Auditorium located on the lower level of the museum is accessible from both the concourse level and the lower Exhibition Level/Hellman Lobby. The auditorium is available for both daytime and after-hours events.
Outdoor Event Spaces:
Café Terrace – The de Young Café Terrace runs the length of the west side of the museum and overlooks the inviting Barbro Osher Sculpture Garden. Located under an embossed copper canopy, the Café terrace is an outside space that may or may not be tented for events.
Barbro Osher Sculpture Garden (9,718 sq. ft.) – An elegantly landscaped garden featuring sculptures by a number of contemporary artists, including a site-specific commission by artist James Turrell, the Barbro Osher Sculpture Garden provides additional event space in conjunction with the Café terrace. The Barbro Osher Sculpture Garden and is available for wedding ceremonies after hours.
